In December 2017, Florida Officials says, hackers may have gained access to their system and may have stolen around 30,000 of personal information of their patients.
The state’s Agency for Health Care Administration said, one of their employee was caught by a hacker using ‘phishing using email’ technique. This phishing happened around on 15 November, 2017. Agency leaders were notified about the preliminary findings of an Inspector General investigation. It found that hackers may have partly or fully accessed the enrollees’ full names, Medicaid ID numbers, birthdates, addresses, diagnoses, medical conditions and Social Security numbers.
The agency stated, ‘it has no reason that these informations have been misused, however if you’re a part of this breach, please give a phone call on 844-749-8327’.
The agency also said that their employees are under proper security protocol. However, they may proceed with new cyber related awareness training in their protocol.
